In addition to today’s release of Honor of Kings in the CIS region, publisher Level Infinite has also launched a Google Play page for the mobile version of Age of Empires . While players can now pre-register for the game, there will be no trial run or beta test offered anywhere. Notably, as of now, there is still no official page for the game on the App Store.
It’s worth noting that on February 23 , an online presentation dedicated to the Age of Empires series will take place. During this event, developers are expected to reveal more details about the mobile version.
Based on released screenshots, Age of Empires Mobile appears to offer a comprehensive strategy experience where players can build and manage their own civilizations, as well as participate in large-scale sieges. The game features a gacha system through which players can obtain rare hero commanders—each representing a real historical figure. These units come in varying levels of rarity, adding depth to the collection and gameplay mechanics.
Judging from in-game footage, the title supports large-scale multiplayer interactions, such as city occupations involving many players simultaneously. Compared to other mobile massively multiplayer online (MMO) games, the user interface and core gameplay mechanics seem quite familiar: resource gathering, base building, army upgrades, and participation in online events. The game will also include a text chat feature to facilitate player communication.
Additionally, it has now been confirmed that Age of Empires Mobile is set to launch on the App Store on August 19th .
